Cotterless cranks are also known as square taper cranks because they have a square cross-section where they join the hub. They’re fairly common on beginner unicycles because they are less intensive to produce than splined cranks and ISIS cranks. Provided you attach these types of cranks securely and never ride with them loose, they’ll provide you with a quality pair of cranksets.
